The Top Trendy and Chic Hairstyle Ideas for Spring and Summer 2020 – Cut, Color, and Style

Hairstyle Trends for Spring and Summer 2020

I walked outside today, and even though there is still snow everywhere, I got a tickle of spring that lifted my spirits the minute I smelled it in the air.

Spring gives me the feeling of a fresh start—forget New Years Day.

January and February are some of my hardest months for me mentally, especially in the face of relentless snowy weather that causes my kids and I to go a little stir crazy.

But Spring will be here before we know, and as a hairstylist, I can’t help but think about all the cute, trendy, and effortlessly stylish hair ideas that come with it.

So let’s thank God that seasons change, as well as hairstyles, cause I’m in need of something fresh, even if it’s means getting some bangs, or changing up my color.

I am always on the look out for what’s new, but still timeless and classy.

And what I’ve been feeling lately, is that not only is EVERY style from the 1930’s to the 2020’s a thing, but whatever fits you and your unique style best, is the way to go.

So, keeping that in mind, I tend to not play this fact to extremes.
I mean, the 80’s can be admired for their bright colors and grungy chic, but perhaps the big, lacquered hair is a no go.

Style today seems to be taking little accents here and there from every era, and adding a new modern twist.

So let’s steer clear of mullets and perms, and look at some timeless do’s that have stood the test of time, and come back around without the “extreme” attached.

Fresh Spring Hair Color Ideas

Bronde

Jennifer Anniston has always been an inspiration for her hairstyles since I can remember. And if we can learn anything from her, it’s that you don’t always need to change BIG, in order to feel a change.

I have seen her go form short to long, all without compromising her staple bronde color or middle part.

So when you consider a change, make sure you keep in mind what suits YOU. This color is more suitable for women with yellow or gold toned skin.

Get this look by using this flexible hairspray by Kevin Murphy. Great for setting wavy, long hair that tame your hairs, without doing it too much.

Caramel Highlights

Halle Berry has most likely inspired something you have done with your hair. She’s gone from an adorable black pixie, to wavy long caramel highlighted locks.

Caramel highlights will always be around. Whether you use them in an ombre, balayage, or up to the root, you can’t go wrong!

They flatter almost any skin tone, and can bring a little life and change to your current do.

Get this look by using EvolvH leave in conditioner that will leave your hair shiny, yet the curl won’t feel greasy or compromised.

Buttery Blonde

Scarlett Johansson hasn’t veered much from her staple buttery blonde color, which is for good reason. Blonde suits her! But be careful if you choose to go the buttery/gold route, vs the more neutral choice.

This warmer tone doesn’t suit everyone’s skin tone, so make sure if you decide to talk with your hairstylist before paying top dollar for these gorgeous highlights.

Get this look by using a high quality flat iron, without a high quality price.

Tweed Hair

Seems as though the darker roots and lighter ends has come full circle—or at least until it’s popular next month. But in the meantime, we can go to something that isn’t new under the sun. The good ole classic highlights from top to bottom.

By mixing in thicker highlights with micro, and everything in between, we don’t get so much of a “highlighted” feel, but rather a simple, and casual change that can be done to just about any color.

Add volume and texture, but not a greasy mess by using this dry texture hairspray.

Red, but not TOO Red

This beautiful shade of red rocked by Zendaya, is something that would look good on just about anyone. Seriously. From dark to light skin, you can’t go wrong with this shade.

The copper and auburn tones lend hand to the red, making it less aggressive, and more rich.

Haircuts That Inspire Change, Yet Stay True to You

Fringe Change

The 70’s fringe will never go out of style in my opinion. But again, be sure to talk with your hairstylist as to whether or not it fits your face frame. Even though it’s adorable, it doesn’t fit the bill for every person.

All bangs need a little revamping in the middle of the day, especially in the warmer months. Check out this dry shampoo that will not only give your bangs a much needed lift, but also make them smell lovely.

The Asymmetrical or Symmetrical Lob or Bob

This haircut was due for another round. It’s been a few years since us hairstyles have cut our last of 10,000 asymmetrical cuts that was all the rage.

But this time, it seems to have settled on being less dramatic, and more classy.

The Rounded ‘Fro

“Let them be” is the new motto for hair this Spring, which is why I am loving these round ‘fro’s that are to die for. Jessica Williams looks stunning letting her hairs be free! I personally don’t dig the little tail hanging down, but to each their own!

Short Fringe

I am all for doing something a little daring, especially when ti comes to your fringe. This adorable short bangs looks stunning, and can offer a little more style if you’re feeling boring, without chopping off all your hair.

Just don’t go too crazy. Remember we are steering clear of the mullet!

Pixie is Back! But also Different

Leave it up to Zoë to rock an adorable pixie and make it something “new!” I love how she uses her natural curl. Again, the motto here is “let them be.”
